COMPUTERFACE

感謝BIOS的邀請,電腦臉很榮幸能參與今年度的《LIGHT UP 南村有光》光雕計畫。
這次的作品< COMPUTERFACE >以數位塗鴉為媒介,透過四個不同章節,探討科技迅速進化對未來社會可能帶來的挑戰,
期望觀眾在欣賞創作的同時,亦能一窺科技發展的可能影響及未知議題。



COMPUTERFACE

Thanks for the invitation from BIOS. Computerface is honored to participate in "LIGHT UP 南村有光" light sculpture project.
Our piece, <COMPUTERFACE>, utilizes digital graffiti as a medium to explore the potential challenges that the rapid evolution of technology may pose to future society. Through four different chapters, we aim to examine the impact of technology on future society. We hope that the audience, while appreciating the artwork, can also catch a glimpse of the possible effects of technological development and the unknown issues it may bring.







第一章節:科技冷漠的表象,其實是更有效率的自由社交

開場,從一個個緊盯著眼前螢幕且貌似疏離的個體拉開序幕,隨著構圖的推進,逐漸地看見眼前的個體間,其實有著頻繁的數位交流,並隱隱勾勒出"WE ARE NOT ALONE"的科技宣言。

而安靜坐落於背景的宇宙神祉,則以銀河的旋臂緊緊地將他們環抱在一起:「我們看似分離,卻始終合一。」



Part 1: The facade of technological indifference is, in fact, more efficient free social interaction.

This digital graffiti begins with individuals intensely focused on screens, appearing isolated. However, as the composition progresses, we see them engaging in frequent digital communication, outlining the technological declaration "WE ARE NOT ALONE." The tranquil cosmic deity in the background, represented by the spiral arms of the galaxy, tightly embraces them: we may seem separated, but we are always united.








第二章節:機械器官取代人類有限制的軀體

在過往,反烏托邦類的科幻作品中,我們總是可以瞥見人們對於超人類主義(Transhumanism)憂喜參半的態度,一方面奢望著科技帶來的便利,一方面又擔憂人性將被引至更加黑暗的深淵,而我們,呈現了較少為人見的樂觀面。

一場競賽中,渾身是傷的主角正處於劣勢,直至他的繃帶被揭開,並被賦予了機械的骨肉,讓他再次擺脫疲憊,邁開超人的步伐,向著終點飛馳而去。


Part 2: Mechanical organs replacing the limitations of the human body.

Contrary to dystopian sci-fi works, we present an optimistic view. In a competition, the protagonist, battered and at a disadvantage, is rejuvenated as we unveil his bandages and equip him with advanced mechanical limbs, enabling him to overcome exhaustion and stride towards the finish line with superhuman steps.








第三章節:VR的無限可能與現實的侷限

現代對於未來科技的討論中,VR的應用可說是其中充滿想像的一環。
它將人類的感官推向無邊無際的數位環境,短暫地超越常人肉身所能企及的極限。

然而.無論何等不思議的美景成像在我們的視網膜上,摘下VR眼鏡後,我們始終得面對這個由堅實物質組成的物理世界。或許世界某天仍會無可避免地邁向衰敗,但對美好的想望永遠會是人類心中那超越時空的特質。


Part 3: The infinite possibilities of VR and the limitations of reality.

In current discussions about future technology, the application of VR is an imaginative aspect. It propels our senses into boundless digital environments, momentarily surpassing the limits of our physical bodies. However, regardless of the incredible imagery manifested on our retinas, once we remove the VR goggles, we must confront the physical world composed of solid matter. Perhaps the world may inevitably move towards decay one day, but the desire for beauty will always be a transcendent quality within the human heart.








第四章節:進化的最終形式

畫面來最後章節,畫面的兩側正同時蔓延著:一條象徵著有機生物的演化路徑自左側逐漸生長,右側則不斷堆積延伸著另一條代表無機物機械的科技演化路徑。最終它們在畫布的中央碰撞、交織與融合,開出一朵象徵涅槃的混種蓮花。在蓮花的上端,坐著為了適應永無止境的多功需求,而長著三頭六臂的未來人。

祂已無性別,社交媒體的表情符號就是祂的社會面具,「祂」是焦慮與自在的混合體,永遠在時代的浪潮中,保持著尷尬而不失禮的微笑。


Part 4: The ultimate form of evolution.

In this final composition, we first witness an evolutionary path symbolizing organic life growing from the left of the frame, and a path representing the evolution of inorganic technology continually extending and accumulating from the right. These paths finally collide and intertwine on the central main wall of the building, blossoming into a hybrid lotus symbolizing nirvana. At its apex sits this future human, with three heads and six arms, adapting to the endless demands of multitasking. Genderless, their social mask is the emoji expressions of social media, embodying a mixture of anxiety and ease, forever maintaining an awkward yet polite smile amidst the waves of time.
